FUNNY HAT FRIDAY: DIY FRESH SUNFLOWER FASCINATOR

I don’t speak German at all (yet!) but I think the word for “sunflower” is super cute: „Sonnenblume

Anyway, my mother was given some sunflower blooms. I was subsequently given permission to turn them into a headpiece towards the end of their lifespan. Just a short post for y’all to share it.

FUNNY HAT FRIDAYS: DIY Easter Egg & Bird Nest Fascinator

I hope you all had a blessed Easter! I am currently living in Kapunda for my rural hospital placement, but came home to Adelaide for the Easter long weekend. During this time, I made an appropriately themed fascinator and headed to the river with next to the university to take a few photos! It was a bit spontaneous, so I just used what materials were available to me since all the shops were closed.

One of my best friends recently became an Australian citizen at a ceremony on January 26th. With permission, I took home one of the numerous leftover bunches of native flowers from the townhall. I initially intended to make this flower crown with silver eucalyptus leaves as well, but I found the leucadendrons to be rich and full enough on their own.

LOST IN ASIA PICTORIAL: Chinese New Year Cheongsam

I was in Kuala Lumpur during the first week of January; my second trip to Malaysia. Like last time, the shopping malls and streets are adorned with bright red and gold decorations in preparation for Chinese New Year which (depending on the lunar calendar) occurs sometime from mid-January to mid-February. And like last time, some of my friends and cousins were buying new cheongsams to wear for the auspicious day. This year, I decided to join in too.
