FUNNY HAT FRIDAYS: Fresh Lily Flowercrown

My mother bought some lilies to beautify the house while our relatives were visiting. Lilies are always best when bought as closed buds that promise to unfurl into delicate ruffle petals that eventually produce beautiful, full blooms. Once our relatives had left, what choice had I but to make a fresh flower crown?

DIY Kitsch + Coachella= Kitschella Party

Knowing that we are highly unlikely to make it to Coachella my friends at Faith in Fools, we wanted to create our own DIY version, an excuse to decorate and throw a party to celebrate the summer holidays with our friends. It would involve homemade tents and teepees, fairy lights, lanterns and copious amounts of bunting. It would be kitsch. It would be Coachella. It would be Kitsch +Coachella= Kitschella

Chinese New Year floral cheongsam

LOST IN ASIA PICTORIAL: Chinese New Year Cheongsam

I was in Kuala Lumpur during the first week of January; my second trip to Malaysia. Like last time, the shopping malls and streets are adorned with bright red and gold decorations in preparation for Chinese New Year which (depending on the lunar calendar) occurs sometime from mid-January to mid-February. And like last time, some of my friends and cousins were buying new cheongsams to wear for the auspicious day. This year, I decided to join in too.
